Rehearsals are in full swing for the latest Marist Sisters’ College Woolwich theatre production, with students stepping out of their comfort zone to bring the characters in Legally Blond Junior: The Musical to life.
Year 11 students Isabella Speranza, Mahlia King and Olivia Femia have learnt skills beyond their chosen HSC subjects in creative and performing arts through the co-curricular project.
They will take the stage from 25 July, for a five-night theatre run that one performer described as a wonderful opportunity to broaden their performance experience.
Isabella studies drama and has learnt dance choreography to excel in the role of Professor Callaghan.
Mahlia has added singing to her repertoire of drama and dance to be part of the musical’s chorus.
Music student Olivia, learnt core acting skills to portray main character Elle Wood’s nemesis turned best friend, Vivienne Kensington.
The college typically holds a production every two years. Like the 2001 film, the Legally Blonde musical follows the transformation of Elle Woods as she finds her way through Harvard Law School, tackling snobbery and stereotypes as she realises her potential.
