The team won the NSW decider 16-15, defeating the Combined High Schools team right on the buzzer with a well-kicked penalty goal.
The team’s win earns them the opportunity to tour New Zealand later in the year, and co-captain Sione Taufui said the victory felt very significant.
“It was good to be part of the team that won the first title,” he told the Fairfield City Champion.
“It was an historic moment,” agreed NSWCCC Rugby Convenor Steve Mitchell.
“For Catholic Schools to win such a tournament is a significant achievement and such success is testimony to the effort of all the teachers involved.”
