A stroke away from Pacific Games

Sophia Bruzzese is chasing her Olympic dreams.

The 15 year-old Bethlehem College Ashfield student and passionate swimmer has qualified for the NSW All Schools Swimming Championships, after taking out gold in the 100m Breaststroke event at the NSWCCC.

She is now eligible to represent her state at the Pacific School Games in Adelaide in December.

“I’m thankful for the opportunity,” said Sophia.

A swimmer since age five, Sophia said this is the second time she has qualified for the Pacific Games since 2015.

College Sports Coordiantor Kathryn Beaumont said Sophia has got a huge future ahead of her as she is a determined athlete.

“Sophia’s goal to represent Australia in international swimming drives her to compete at her very best.”
