St Patrick’s College Sutherland hosted the NSWCCC 19th Blue Award Presentation Evening on February 8, and collected four awards. The Blue Awards are presented to students who have achieved excellence in their chosen sports.

More than 60 elite athletes, their families, coaches, teachers, principals and staff from Sydney Catholic Schools attended the prestigious event, where St Pat’s Year 11 student Olivia O’Rourke and Year 12 graduate Nathan Breen were presented with awards for Outstanding Achievement and Excellence in different fields. Olivia collected an award for diving, and Nathan collected two – one for cross country and another for triathlon.

Assistant Principal James Clancy was also presented with a Service award for his outstanding contribution to the promotion of sport in the area of Rugby League. His roles as coach, trainer, convenor, manager and selector at State and National levels have been characterized by the importance he places on relationships and developing the whole individual.

South Sydney Rabbitohs coach Michael Maguire and Wests Tigers Captain Aaron Woods (a Holy Cross College Ryde graduate in 2008) were guest presenters on the night.
