Happy day: Holy Family Menai students form a smile on their school oval.

Holy Family Catholic Primary Menai ended Catholic Schools Week with a smile.

About 830 students from Kindergarten to Year 6 formed a smiley face for a photograph on the school oval on March 11 to symbolise a linking of the Catholic Schools Week theme of belonging with the Kidsmatter mantra ‘Every face has a place’.

It was so wonderful to see the children create a symbol to remind us that we all belong to Holy Family.

The school has embraced the KidsMatter program which encourages positive mental health among primary school students by creating a welcoming environment for parents, carers and students, writing social and emotional learning into the curriculum, and making sure there is support in place for children who show signs of mental illness.

“It was so wonderful to see all the children joined to create a symbol to remind us that we all belong to Holy Family, a smile to show that together we can build a place where we can all feel welcomed,” said Holy Family’s KidsMatter facilitator Sepy Nadalin.
