Amy won Australia’s first gold medal on day one of the Games in the 1500 metres, and won a second in the 800 metre event on September 9. She qualified for the event with twin sister Lily who placed fifth in the race. Amy ran the race in 2.06.83, Scotland’s Carys McAulay placed second at 2.07.05 and India’s Abitha Mary Manuel was third with a time of 2.07.33.
