A Year 3 student at St Therese Catholic Primary School Sadleir-Miller has won three New South Wales state medals in martial arts.
Aryan Sharma won his divisions at the World Association of Kickboxing Organisations at Sydney Olympic Park in “Kickboxing”, “Kata” (choreographed self-defence) and “Open Fight” (a combination of karate and kickboxing).
Aryan started martial arts halfway through Kindergarten just after the soccer season had finished. He’s never looked back.
In addition to this, Aryan is a member of Sadleir-Miller’s “Dance Bollywood” and has performed for Channels 7 and 9 breakfast shows.
“I learn how to defend myself and make new friends,” said Aryan.
He trains four times a week for 45 minutes per session in martial arts.
“All his teachers say he can be relied on in class – it’s boosted his confidence and school work,” said his mother, Umlesh Sharma.
