Students support cancer research

BMT Year 1Staff and students  at St John Vianney Catholic Primary Greenacre held a Biggest Morning Tea on May 27, and bought treats including chocolate brownies, cakes, biscuits and jellies to support the Cancer Council fundraiser.

A letter from Year 5 student Ella Nicholls to principal, Philip Barrington, asking if the school could support the event was the catalyst for the morning tea.

Ella enlisted the help of the school’s Year 5 Mini Vinnies group, and all classes contributed food.  All children were encouraged to wear a splash of yellow with their uniform to help raise awareness and funds to support cancer research. The morning tea raised $984.90.

“This money will certainly assist the Cancer Council in all that they do,” Mr Barrington said.
